其中盲腸后位包括三種情況：（1）盲腸后腹膜內位；（2）盲腸后腹膜外位；（3）盲腸為腹膜內位，闌尾貼于盲腸后漿膜下。無論是盲腸前位，還是盲腸后位的闌尾，都以腹膜內位者占絕大多數，腹膜外位者極少，盲腸漿膜下位者罕見。但是，長的闌尾能伸到升結腸之后，接近右腎或十二指腸降部，這時闌尾遠端可位于腹膜外。空腸 intestinum jejunum，jejunum ,哺乳類動物的小腸十二指腸以后的部分，雖然可進一步把它分開，前段為空腸，后段為回腸，但兩者之間是沒有明顯界線的。人的空腸位于腹腔的左上側，回腸位于右下側，空腸稍粗，由于有很多血管分布而微帶紅色。空腸始于十二指腸空腸曲，占空回腸全長的2/5，占據腹腔的左上部；回腸占空回腸全長遠側3/5，在右髂窩續盲腸。回腸位于腹腔右下部，部分位于盆腔內。空腸 intestinum jejunum，jejunum主要位于腹部左上側，拉開空腸觀察小腸系膜，空腸中部有一個小突起，叫卵黃囊憩室。哺乳類動物的小腸十二指腸以后的部分，雖然可進一步把它分開，前段為空腸，后段為回腸，但兩者之間是沒有明顯界線的。
